State Rep. Mike Horner on Friday said he will resign as president of the Kissimmee/Osceola Chamber of Commerce, following last month’s disclosure that he was listed as a client of an east Orange County brothel.
Horner submitted his resignation letter at the chamber’s noon board meeting. His last day as president will be Jan. 31. Horner served 15 years in the position, and his recent salary was $137,000 a year.
Last month, Horner – a two-term state legislator — abruptly ended his re-election campaign for the Florida House. Though his name will remain on the ballot, local Republicans chose Celebration Realtor Mike La Rosa to run against the Democrat in the race, Eileen Game of Frostproof.
Horner is not under a criminal investigation, and he has not been charged with a crime.
