THE BEAST
What would an ancient prophet, write about today’s events?
And in those times upon the earth there was a great beast and the beast was unseen by the people. It had an thousand and more heads. As a head was severed another took its place – each more aggressive in its turn.
And the beast spewed forth corruption upon the water and upon the land and upon the air and upon the food but the beast was not fulfilled as it gathered the wealth of the people unto its own.
The beast could not consume the sum of its gains and still was not content.
And the beast put into the world ten thousands and more tentacles to infiltrate and to do its bidding. The tentacles were the wise and shrewd among the people and they did the bidding of the beast or were in turn replaced with others more shrewd and cunning.
And the tentacles, clothed in smart attire, and with persuasive voices, infiltrated everything that was good in all of the lands that stretched to the ends of the earth. They brought gifts from the beast to turn the hearts and heads of those in control – they directed those in power that the bidding of the beast be done.
Still the beast could not be contented.
The tentacles infiltrated the groups who opposed the despoiling of the earth. They replacing them, bribing them to do their bidding, threatened to take their meager possessions and weakened their will. They infiltrated and gained control of much that would oppose the progress of the beast. Gifts of silver and gold and precious things of all kinds were given to the heads of state who would cast aside their laws and would dismantle the unions who sought a voice and would grant the beast control of their people and the resources of the land of all kinds. The beast demanded cheap labour and control of education and the peoples’ health and demanded that all disputes be removed from the hands of the courts and replaced with tribunals of the beasts making. They corrupted and dismantled the rules of those who would stop the destruction of the earth. They permeated the military, and the great edifices of the world leaders seeking freedom from misery and war – they bought and controlled the news that was given to the peoples of the world – they infiltrated the images that were projected into the peoples home and filled them with nationalistic pride and love of the beasts’ deeds – they enslaved the minds of the people and encouraged them to covet possessions and to have greed in their hearts.
Still the beast was not content.
It sent forth more tentacles to transform the laws and constitutions of the people. It promised prosperity and democracy but these were lies to hide the true objective of the beast.. The true nature of the mission was hidden from the people as the beast sought to displace the laws of sovereign nations with the self-serving laws of the beast so that the nations would be weak and vulnerable to the will of the beast.
It sustained and enriched all persons who would choose to represent the peoples in the offices of government. It cared not the political affiliation of such people as it supported all those who would do its bidding.
And the prosperous people were indifferent to the actions of the beast as they grew content living in the shadow of the beast and were unmoved by the corruption and untouched by the misery of their fellow beings and the plight of the planet.
And in those times there were those who choose to expose the beast and to make it visible for all to see but the beast covered the eyes and hardened the hearts of the people and the leaders and spewed forth distortion and toxic and lethal force that they would be silenced.
They could not be silenced and their numbers grew, and grew, and grew, to eventually expose the beast for what it was and — ?
Will everyone live happily ever after?
It is up to the reader to write the end to this story.
