To be clear: I don't like one company-controlled FS, and even less dual licensing. In many cases it just stifles development!

@bkuhn great post! we used to use "shareware" to describe the model before lampitt coined "open-core".

@caostheory, those open core defns seem more convoluted than one I used, but basically same. Also, they use confusing term "dual licensing".
