Porcupine in a cherry tree - a thrilling, action-packed video shot from my front porch: http://ur1.ca/ts2

@morningporch A porcupine! In a tree! With snow! Wow, it's fantastic. I never even knew those creatures could climb.
-
@120new Glad you like. Yeah, climbing is what they do. Their quills are antiseptic, in case they happen to fall and impale themselves.
-
@morningporch Antiseptic quills! That's even more amazing. (Video is still only up to 1min37, btw - downloading here is rather slow...)
-
@morningporch She's certainly going to be sad when the mice are gone since supid regulations prevent her killing squirrels in the park.
-
@120new Sorry about the slow download. It took me over an hour to upload the thing, because I don't have the software to convert to mp4,
-
@120new ...I just let Vimeo handle the conversion. Which seems OK, at least for my connection speed, currently at the low end of DSL.
-
@loopy Bummer. Those squirrels are invasive, too, aren't they? Maybe you can find some rat-infested warehouse for her.
-
@loopy Now maybe you can train the cat to fetch sticks?
-
@morningporch No mice so far today. Her attack on the post has increased in ferocity. She's just ripped a magazine to shreds in 2" flat.
-
@morningporch The cat has actually killed 3 mice, but being a superior oriental breed is lackadaisical about it. He likes walks though.
-
Enough snow now to make the ground a blank page for the calligraphy of weeds and the meandering tracks of birds, the prints of their wings.
-
@morningporch I've said it before, but I really enjoy reading your snippets of poetry first thing in the morning. Starts my day off right.
-
@adamsnider Hey, thanks for reading.
-
@morningporch Good afternoon!
-
@morningporch My apologies, I wasn't clear. I was whingeing about my connection, not your video. The file itself was good.
-
@120new No, that's OK, I knew what you meant.
