Gar! My mac mini has become completely unstable. I may have to take it out and shoot it, or run it over with my car.

@zach Look at it this way: now's your chance to stick a 5200rpm hard drive in that sucker.
-
@zach PPC or Intel? I hotrodded my Intel 1.83 mini, now running 2.33 Core Duo
-
@bplein recent model intel... I got it specifically because I expected it to be stable.
-
@zach what are the symptoms?
-
@bplein Apps become unresponsive, the Finder starts beachballin' and then it freezes up. Also the HD was corrupt earlier today.
-
@zach sounds like my daughter's macbook pro. Hard drive was dying, no errors in console logs. Replaced HD, problem solved.
-
@bplein k, tnx. Ah jeez. I wonder how hard it is to replace a drive in this thing.
-
@zach boot in target disk mode and try disk repair but my guess is that it's permanent
-
@bplein Yeah, did that. Disk Utility says the drive is OK now. But instability continues.
-
@zach first time is hard, subsequent times are easy. there are lots of cables to remove and keep track of.
-
@zach replace with nice fat Hitachi 5k500.b or a 7200rpm 320GB Western Digital and you'll be a happy camper
-
@zach Fry's sale, $59.99 last saturday, got one to rip open and put in laptop http://www.frys.com/product/6086198
-
@zach I guess we don't need to tell you that if you haven't backed it up already you should.
-
@markjaroski Maybe we'll see how well this Time Machine thing works for catastrophic failure.
-
@zach GET A MAC!
