Oh FFS, not only does Audacity not have mp3 support in Fedora, Easytag doesn't either!! I'm all for Free Software but this is stupid grr
-
@dantheman that *is* stupid. File Bug?
-
@jwildeboer I will do. It's been compiled without mp3 tagging ability. It doesn't see them at all. Bit silly since LAME is 100% FOSS
-
@dantheman I am assuming it would be a patent argument? Still, always thought that if you click a file, it is because you intend to play it.
-
@dantheman - which seems like a perfectly reasonable argument for automagically fetching the codecs.
-
@dantheman What _really_ annoys the hell out of me is when Ubuntu says I need some codecs; but they don't reveal the name of the package!
-
@dantheman Install audacity-freeworld from rpm-fusion. The EasyTag thing is a bug...
-
@jwildeboer It's already filed and they say it's been fixed in the testing repo http://is.gd/57MOF I have that enabled so it should work
-
@fabsh I already have the freeworld version of Audacity, which is 2 releases behind at 1.3.7 with shit compression. Just an Easytag problem
-
@dantheman Ah. didn't notice it was the old version since you do the compression for me. Want the EasyTag RPM?
-
@fabsh Got it thanks :) Installing now. I find it odd though because it doesn't use lame only libid3
-
@dantheman I think it was a bug rather than any problem with LAME.
-
@fabsh I hope so, I'm reading about it now and it seems there might have been political issues as well. Meh, I can fix it now at least
-
@dantheman Were there? Never noticed...
-
@dantheman got a BZ #?
-
@dantheman gotta love when politics gets into software don't you
-
@jwildeboer I thought I'd sent you a BZ link sorry, maybe it was just the forum thread, hold on I'll get the link
-
@jwildeboer Here - http://is.gd/57MOF - BZ 525519. There's a new package in the testing repo apparently with the issue fixed :)
