Trying to install Karmic on my desktop, and now feeling like stabbing things. No RAID support? !ubuntu !linux #OldDogNewTrick #preferFedora

@xopher You need to use the Alternate or Server images for raid !ubuntu #malcontent

@xopher I had the same problem. I was using raid 1 so I decided to ditch raid and just run a cron job to backup my data to the other hd.

@cghouly I need RAID, I can't afford the downtime if a drive dies. I had a working Jaunty install, upgrade to Karmic went bad. !ubuntu :-(

@mczyzewski At the risk of being an old stick-in-the-mud, I think that's lame. Why no RAID/LVM support in default installer? !ubuntu

@xopher are you using the server version or normal desktop version of Kharmic ? If the standard, try the Server version.

@xopher I thought to get RAID/LVM features you had to use Alternate Ubuntu Installer....that's what I used to get ciphered LVM over luks.

@xopher Not sure whether this is the problem, but on upgrade to Jaunty installer failed to update initrd.

@cghouly Thanks, it looks like this is what probably happened on my end. It's borked enough now that I'm just going to re-install. !ubuntu
