Wondering how long it would well be before people would run out of excuses to get involved & dive into the 2.0 within the corporate world...
Monday, 28-Jul-08 17:35:39 UTC from web-
@elsua when it becomes part of their performance plan and starts affecting their salaries. ;-)
-
@lewisge I doubt it, Gary, I think it's going to be a lot sooner! When the rest of the world *is* already there & they feel more isolated
-
@elsua I certainly hope so... there is much benefit to it. But, what I have seen is a huge resistance to change the status quo.
-
@elsua mainly from people who are addicted to e-mail and older tools.
-
@elsua and I have personaly learned it IS an addiction you have to wean yourself off of.
-
@lewisge Yes, I know, I've been suffering from it, too, while others keep sending e-mails, but how long before they realise they're ignored?
-
@elsua I've been asking myself that question. I have been using tools like cattail, Connections. But, people just don't get it. It's bizzare
-
@lewisge Yeah, I know, they just don't get it, because they don't want to leave their comfort zone. Just you wait when it gets demolished :)
-
@elsua reminds me of when we shifted away from mainframes. People who changed had jobs. I see that happening with this, too... eventually.
-
@lewisge Yes, I think that's going to be the major shift starting to happen over the next couple of years, if things continue to go like now
-
@elsua the real adoption issue will come from the older knowledge workers in the workplace... not the 20 somethings out of college.
-
@elsua of course, yours truly is an exception! ;-)
-
@lewisge lol! Yeah, but I think those are going to be more worried with their post-retirement "employment" than all of these 2.0 tools
-
@lewisge That's one of the biggest hurdles I'm seeing. No, I'm not sharing because I want to be re-hired as a part-time consultant & be safe
-
@elsua well... it's those very 2.0 tools that can help with that retirement "employment"!!! LOL As I said, people just don't get it yet.
-
@lewisge Exactly, but they just don't see as soon as they move away they'd be gone. Not a chance to come back, 'cause of that same reluctance
-
@elsua The main thing you need with MoviStar to get an iPhone is endless patience. I applied 2 wks ago today. Today they said maybe Friday!
-
@elsua yep... I don't intend to be left behind. My mgmt asking me about these tools I am now using. Light bulbs are starting to flicker LOL
-
@tomraftery Holy smokes! I think I am going to lower down my interest & expectacions & wait for a few more months!
-
@elsua Are you already with MoviStar? 'Cos if you are it takes longer than if you are with someone else. And no, I am not kidding.
-
@lewisge Which is a good thing, because, at least, it is showing an interest & an intention to listen what the fuss may all be about ;-)
-
@tomraftery No, I am not with them, but it would be my second mobile phone I'd have. Not a replacement, but an enhancement ;)
