@evan js/geometa.js falls back to "AjaxGeoLocation" if neither HTML5 native nor Gears is present, using Google ClientLocation API.
-
@zach ditto for Camino Browser http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1667185
-
@brionv Thank you.
-
@brionv Wow, are you really in a trailer park?

@olhe ich guck hacking flash (saal1), scheint die bessere wahl zu sein :p
-
@zach no :) name lookups are far more accurate than the actual locations right now
-
@brionv Ahhhh! Geez, that's a complicated little bit of code, and it's not asking people's permission. Could that be our problem?
-
@evan yeah I'll prune it out for now
-
@brionv sorry, example of what?
-
@brionv well, it really clears a lot up.
-
Oh, also: I've said unfair things about Chrome and Chromium, and it looks like the problem was in StatusNet code. I'm sorry about that.

@brionv head by http://micro.br3nda.com/br3nda the links to foreign notices were offsite links in 0.8, but they're internal now.

@brionv errrr.. I mean http://micro.br3nda.com/br3nda/all
-
@brionv eg http://micro.br3nda.com/notice/142302 just wondered if intentional change
-
@evan @brionv So it seems to use whatever I have set for Location in my profile. http://ur1.ca/inc0 http://ur1.ca/inc1
-
@evan ok dropped the unprompted IP-based lookups in 0.9.x and master, ready to push at 749b8b5

@zach for me it scrapes IP and guestimates.
-
@brionv The IP-based location lookup wasn't happening for me when using Chrome. No location on notices unless Profile location populated.
-
@evan whoops!
-
@exador23 Well, good riddance to that little bit of .js then.
-
@zach Chrome/Win would use up Gears (and do no lookup if you didn't permit it); Chrome Mac/Lin would fall back, but may fail for some IPs.
-
@brionv Guess It was failing with my IP on Chrome/Linux.
-
@usul japp ich würfelte, wußte ja nicht das so etwas dünnes da rein kommt :/
-
@exador23 It's an issue we have with some servers, I haven't investigated the conflict yet but I will solve it soon.
-
@exador23 Thank you, yes I need to investigate he doesn't get mine also and also I remember seeing some errors when posti http://ur1.ca/intl

@lohang The server is open to the public, but you know having >140 also brings a number of problems considering the exper http://ur1.ca/intm

@lohang the real-time web is more real-time when you don't have to spend all your time deleting vowels :)
