    Doing some minimal support on my first production django app. What a breeze.

      @rdworth my pleasure. anytime.

      @loic Why would I use Twhirl for Identi.ca notices (as I want to) if I can't make Gtalk stop giving me notifications also? Any ideas? Thanks

      @mike just to make sure I understand you want identica notices in Twhirl but not in gtalk? @askseesmic can you help @mike please

      Tuesday, 29-Jul-08 16:46:07 UTC
    • Mike Keliher Mike Keliher Loic Le Meur

      @loic Yes. Each time I get a dent, Gtalk and Twhirl both get it. I need to be logged in to Gtalk for Twhirl, but I want Gtalk silent. Thanks

      @loic I am always dealing with email bankruptcy issues as well. I got mine down from 3k to 400 but then it climbed before I ever saw zero

    • Loic Le Meur Loic Le Meur Austin Hill

      @austinhill and I always flag "for action" ones then archive them, then I never go back to them, always the same!

    • Basil Basil Loic Le Meur

      @loic use gmail to filter out all messages not sent by people you whitelist- you'll find that most of those 3k are not that important

    • Loic Le Meur Loic Le Meur Basil

      @basil I have been willing to do this for ages! but do you manually do a white list filter for hundreds of people? that is a pain?

      @loic:need Twhirl to put service name in the window caption; otherwise can't distinguish between the different services iconfiied in Windows

      @loic gtalk delivers a message for it's JID's to *all* connected clients by default - it's non-standard behaviour

      Tuesday, 29-Jul-08 16:51:27 UTC
    • Mike Keliher Mike Keliher ML , Loic Le Meur

      @loic I got my issue sorted out, I think, thanks to @marco. Thanks for jumping on it anyway, though!

      @loic I think it may be because everyone can reply to you on here and have you see it, twitter only allows followers/followees

      @loic I've tried GTD plug ins but it's always drinkn from the firehouse - with a few critical rules & filters to respond to my teams

      Tuesday, 29-Jul-08 16:52:01 UTC
    • Jack Moffitt Jack Moffitt Mike Taylor

      @bear it's only non-standard if it ignores the priority values. you are allowed to send to all connected resources in a priority tie

      Tuesday, 29-Jul-08 16:52:48 UTC
    • Mike Taylor Mike Taylor Jack Moffitt

      @metajack ah - yes, thanks for the clue-stick clarification

      Tuesday, 29-Jul-08 16:54:00 UTC
    • Jack Moffitt Jack Moffitt Mike Taylor

      @bear and it's easy to imagine why you'd do it. it's probably less confusing to the newbies.

      Tuesday, 29-Jul-08 16:55:42 UTC
    • Remko Tronçon Remko Tronçon Mike Taylor , Jack Moffitt

      @bear @metajack and even then it would only break a SHOULD. Delivering to all resources avoids confusion

      @loic : But you, you answer us more often on identi.ca than twitter

      Tuesday, 29-Jul-08 16:56:20 UTC
    • Loic Le Meur Loic Le Meur Jean-François Amadei

      @tortue I try to answer as often as I can on all services

      Tuesday, 29-Jul-08 16:56:48 UTC
    • Mike Taylor Mike Taylor Jack Moffitt , Remko Tronçon

      @remko @metajack that brings up the obvious question - why other clients don't do the same? (waits for the -1 priority question to appear ;)

      Tuesday, 29-Jul-08 16:57:35 UTC
    • Jean-François Amadei Jean-François Amadei Loic Le Meur

      @loic : But maybe less people are following you on identi.ca, easier to handle, isnt'it ?

      @bear delivering to -1 would be breaking standards otoh ;-)

      @loic the push + @twhirl are just amazing to answer/be notificate on dents

      @rwandering I can't use Twhirl for multiple services because of that..i've posted to the wrong window too many times.

    • Ralph Meijer Ralph Meijer Mike Taylor , Jack Moffitt , Remko Tronçon

      @remko, @metajack, @bear: delivering to all resources, even with differing priorities, is allowed per RFC 3921.

      @bear: the *server* makes that choice.

      @ralphm that's what I said ;-)

      @remko: just clarifying it

      @ralphm yep - understood - just very confusing to non-devs why only one server does that - oh! I said "clients" - my bad

      @loic you can do it that way or you can use contact groups to manage it. I did it the hard way in gmail, but I know less people than you...

      @rwandering I suppose you've seen this MSFT paper on Attention-based search. If only there was a way to record attn, http://bit.ly/eKX8l

      @cgerrish: thanks for the MSFT link -- no, I hadn't seen it. BrowseRank? Hah.
