Is it my imagaination or does Twhirl update dents instantly with XMPP set but no settings in Identi.ca IM options? Nor logged in to Gmail?

@jangles if you have activated IM in identi.ca and your account is setup in Twhirl then you get live updates on Twhirl/identi.ca

@jangles the other way to know if you get the updates via XMPP is if the little light bulb is on at the bottom right and on some updates

@loic I haven't activated IM in Identi.ca. But I see the little liightbulb in Twhirl and the tooltip says 'XMPP session established'

@loic so I guess I am getting instant updates?

@jangles looks like it. Do you also get the light bulk on the updates themselves? If so then yes, you get them live. If it is a star, not.

@loic no, I see a star not a bulb. Makes sense I guess, although updates seem instant. Ok, so I need to set up IM in Identi.ca as well.

@jangles your dents appear almost simultaneously in both Twhirl and my jabber client, the jabber client just wins I think

@loic - What's wrong with admitting you are reading something with your name on it? No shame in that.

@tonymolloy good to know! Wondering if I need XMPP as I don't want to get dents anywhere except in Identica/Twhirl.

@mike ah, ok, in that case, I'll give GTalk setup a go. Thanks.

@jangles you don't need GTalk installed. just follow Johann's step by step guide http://www.romefort.net/?p=36

@jangles I still have got to decide some more how to get busy with FF, but that link you shared is probably the way to go. Microconversation
