Want to setup a wiki that uses files and VCS as data storage... wikimatrix certainly helps in narrowing the field !debian #linux

@dwa you want ikiwiki http://ikiwiki.info/ already packaged in !debian

@steko thanks... ikiwiki indeed seems to fit the bill... have you tried either foswiki or moniwiki? !debian #linux

@dwa haven't tried those, but ikiwiki has a large userbase and it's used extensively by a number of !debian developers, which makes it good.

@steko checking it out... appears I can get up and running right away with static files and add git later (when I have *learned* git) #linux

@dwa I use foswiki and ikiwiki; FW only uses RCS but has nicer default look IMHO; both good for what you're after

@saintaardvark thanks... going to download ikiwiki tonight and start on a small personal site minus git until I learn how to use it

@dwa, a little late, but do you know #dokuwiki? http://dokuwiki.org

@aracnus yes... looks good but I would also like to learn about git and a 'wiki generator' like ikiwiki seems well-suited for that

@tamasrepus thanks for the suggestion... using files as the storage medium means its easy to take another look later on, right? :-)
