@mcgrof give up, the android kernel is a total and complete mess (i.e. a failure in my eyes).

@gregkh, do you have a more written up about why you believe !android is a failure? Is it that you agree with Harald Welte's assessment?

@bkuhn I agree w/ Harald, but have a different viewpoint, as I just threw out the !android code from the kernel. I'll write in detail later.

@gregkh indeed their staging commitment is gross but curious, what other option would you consider for a phone?

@mcgrof, !android still seems the shortest best path to a fully FaiF phone. I'm open-minded, but #Maemo still has more proprietary parts.

@bkuhn yeah I hear ya, my guess is things will slowly start getting better, but right now its still my top pick

@bkuhn: I heard John "maddog" Hall explain that #Android was not really open and that the Neo #FreeRunner is the only true FaiF phone

@maddingue, maddog's correct, but #FreeRunner has no platform future. !android's here to stay, we should go last mile to get it fully Free.

@mcgrof I love my G1, and would take a Nexus One gladly, there really are no other options out there right now that I like.

@awafaa, #symbian is controlled by conglomeration of companies & not buildable. AFAICT, you can't make its release work on any phone today
