   !gimp help, i'm succumbing to photoshop guys... is it possible to have clipping masks for layers and locking transparent pixels in a layer?

     @faemir There's a checkbox with a checker pattern next to it that locks the alpha channel (transparent pixels) in the selected layer

     @faemir and I dunno about clipping masks (never used'em) but this looks promising http://tr.im/JKii and sorry for sending 2 messages ;P
