!linux what good freedom loving video formats would people suggest? I have tried theora already but intrested to see what's out there
-
@purpleoptic what about ogg video (*.ogv)
-
@purpleoptic tried Dirac? yeah I know it sound's like a Dalek but apparently it's a free format designed for streaming, developed by the BBC
-
@thistleweb I'll give it a try mainly because it sounds like dalek
-
@badocelot OK thanks, did not know that
-
@purpleoptic dirac seems to be pretty cool and xvid is well supported by dvd-players/tvs/...
-
@purpleoptic #dirac ? It was developed by the #BBC and is patent-free I believe. (The Beeb is contradictory: open stuff OOH, but DRM OTOH)
-
@thistleweb @thisisabore @kelvan Thanks for the suggestion of dirac just trying it out now. there does seem to be a lack of good free codecs
