Does anybody have any idea how to debug where XMPP prob is (client/server/identi.ca) with msgs not going through?
Thursday, 31-Jul-08 05:12:50 UTC from xmpp-
@marjoleink it's probably on my end. I'll check it out in the morning.
-
@evan, you can get sample texts (+ test count results) at http://www.kanzaki.com/works/2008/misc/0709-jstr
-
@evan, OK - I just don't know what to look at/for - you go sleep first !
-
@evan is there an rss feed for the profile page? I'd like to set my iname forwarding to an rss URI - is there a way to point to an XMPP uri?
-
@evan : you could use "hop" instead of "envoyer" in french.
-
@evan re: multibyte length counting, i added the correct (pseudocode) algorithm to http://laconi.ca/PITS/00179
-
@evan I miss the "Public" link (the one near "Home"). Why have you remove it ?
-
@bugabundo: ixnay on the atroom-chay, please. i don't use pounce or jaiku for a reason.
-
@masaka message lengths should be counted for SMS, which uses UTF-16, not UTF-8. See my comment on http://laconi.ca/PITS/00179.
-
@jpatokal More importantly for me - count how mysql counts them. If it's too long for sms/twitter/etc then truncate and link to the full msg
-
@jpatokal, I don't care whether string is stored in UTF-8 or UTF-16, but simply want it to be counted by characters, not bytes
-
@evan why is the IM-bot invisible?
-
@planetsab he/she's not invisible here...
-
@planetsab hmm, longtimeago, but isn't it an empty password?
-
@planetsab it isn't
-
@dwd right, the origin was 140 'octets' limit of SMS, but most microblogging implimentation is 140 'unicode chars', which we expect here
-
@masaka There does seem to be a lot of fuss over the SMS limits on the social XMPP list, though.
-
@dwd: that thread has gone bonkers some posts ago
-
@evan I get this a lot lately. And I seem to be unable to post twice in the same minute.
-
@evan which is why my last message didn't make it through....: 13:12 -!- update is away: User is offline
-
@evan do we have direct dents yet? any progress in that direction? its kind of nice to say everything public though
-
@evan depending on your audience, you may want to s/xmpp/im/ in template for dents
-
@monkchips: DM is trickier in a federated system, same as @ reply links are, because username resolution is harder when that username might
-
@monkchips: crap "might be remote"
-
@steveivy: the messaging itself is not tricky, but addressing a particular entity might be.
-
@ralphm: that's what i meant. see the recent thread on social@xmpp for examples

@monkchips blogging while brown was a blogger event held by Blackweb2.0 in Atlanta Georgia

@evan, I've posted several updates via my Jabber IM client (Kopete) these last few days. Turns out they haven't appeared. I see updates tho
-
@wftl I agree. SaaS has a lot of problems: It's not cheaper, not better, and not reliable.
