      @metajack you can always keep a firefox 3.5 profile around just for gmail until gears is updated ;)

      @metajack cost of conversion ... I have couple of GB of emails in folders; plus why Gmail doesn't use HTML5 yet?

      @mcepl Gmail uses HTML5 just fine on the iPhone version, just not on the regular one.

      @metajack they're phasing Gears out for HTML 5 APIs, but I can't find any announce they're dropping it before updating their own apps?

      @metajack mobile Gmail UI was written from the ground up for iPhone & Android; retrofitting the main UI is probably a bigger project.

      @metajack The only remote email protocol is IMAP, which enshrines Eudora/Outlook behaviour in other mailers.
