is it ethical for FOSS peeps to encourage peeps to join closed networks like Facebook? Even if it is for a FOSS project

@kevie I understand peeps who are existing members of Facebook, but getting people to JOIN, to join a project just feels wrong to me

@kevie I do sorta understand if there's no FOSS alternate to FB, but Identi.ca IS as good as Twitter, so there's no excuse for microblogging

@schwarzproductions oh yeah, had a twitter account (now deleted) and used to get about 30 posts from companies/spammers a day minimum

@thistleweb also facebook is kinda pointless, theres nothing you can't do on fb that you can't do using !identica+blogs

@robconnolly I don't use any FB, MySpace etc I have no interest in what they do so I have no idea if there's a FOSS alternative

@kevie I still have my twitter account, and it is handy sometimes. But I'm pretty picky on whom I follow

@thistleweb There isn't. All I use fb for is posting the occasional notice and receiving replies/events from my freedom hating friends.

@thistleweb I'd like to see more free services doing one part of the stuff that fb does, based around !identica as the messaging platform.
