@m1 Yes, there was a bug in the URL-linking code. It should be fixed now; let me know if you see it again.
-
@evan Thanks for fixing! Will watch out & check.
-
@m1 @seanmurphy fixed it, I just pulled his patch from our dev branch and pushed it. He's doing a great job with URL linking!
-
@evan - there's some strange stuff going on when I hit the personal tab (some code about a facebook event) - I guess you guys are working;-)
-
I want to search for files <7 days old in my ~/Podcasts dir and then copy the returned files to my mounted music player. Why is this hard?
-
Another Nautilus wishlist item: I'd like to view a folder full of music with columns for music metadata (artist, genre, track, album).
-
@evan find + xargs don't do it?
-
@evan Doesn't gPodder do this?
-
@evan use find ~/podcasts -cmin 10080 -exec cp '{}' /media/disk \;
Tobias Diekershoff (old account) likes this. -
@katec Really? I haven't seen it. Can you send me a screenshot (evan@identi.ca)?
-
@evan: find -mtime +7 ~/Podcasts -exec cp {} /media/PLAYER/ ;
-
@evan that's off the cuff BTW it might need some tuning
-
@evan: -mtime of course only works if your filesystem writes those. "-newermt TIME" (which TIME set appropriatly) would also do the trick
-
@seanmurphy Very good! The RabbitMQ folks are actively helping out, so I think we're on a good timeline for 0.8.x. Watch for code in dev.
-
@seanmurphy I intend to use an abstract class for queues, concrete implementation for STOMP, AMQP, homebrew, etc.
-
@daniel I define "twiddling with find & xargs" as "hard". I just want a cut/copy/paste option on this context menu: http://ur1.ca/1pae
-
@evan Awesome. If you'd like help with any of it, I'm more than willing.
-
@evan What if your mounted music player is full? You want recent stuff filling your player? I use scripts for mine, but manage manually.
-
@evan nope, I've had the same client the whole time... maybe something changed on !disgby 's end
-
@evan: Nautilus-scripts should be able to help you. How did you get that screen, I can't seem to replicate it
-
@evan learning UIs is harder for me :) find ~/Podcasts -Btime 7 | xargs -I % cp % music_player/
-
@evan (abstract class for queues)++ Keeps the software usable by people on less capable web hosts.
-
@evan ... we still on for lunch?
-
@lmorchard Yes, we'll keep the cruddy MySQL-based queuing as an option. I might also create an "immediate" class, instead of current system.
-
@cbrown1023 It seems to be working fine for me in the latest alpha update.
-
Plains of Abraham reenactment canceled in face of potential violence. http://ur1.ca/1pcc Thuggery and revisionism rule in #QC? #1759
-
@hugh Yep, I'm heading straight for Eurodeli. See you there?
-
@fabsh: I think that is some people protesting.

-
@fabsh That's not a bug. In most cases it is deliberate relative to the NZ protest underway.
-
@fabsh Is there a problem with http://rant.feebleforce.com/ I can't open the webpage nor post by Twhirl.
-
@fabsh, those black boxes are not issues. They are opposing New Zealand's Guilty-Upon-Accusation internet copyright infringement laws.
-
@fabsh, here is a link http://is.gd/jEJS
-
@fabsh I'm sure 100 other people will have pointed you to http://is.gd/jDKz - but just in case they havent!
-
@fabsh @jackieplage Link to one explanation of the black out is here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2009/feb/17/internet-newzealand
-
@evan Hum, now it's gone. Back to normal. I`m not a facebook user so it wasn't a cache thing. Thanks for the fast followup - you rock!
-
@mjohnson @alexharrington Interesting. Hadn't heard about it. Nice site design too.
-
@mjohnson Works for me. Also, it's on Dan's server. ;)
-
@evan heh, dave winer wakes up? http://www.scripting.com/stories/2009/02/17/whereIsTwittersWordpress.html
-
@lmorchard I agree it isn't "yet." But it *is* the *only* contender. ;)
-
@lmorchard and to be fair, if anyone is asleep, it is I, for sure! Not paying attention to web much. guess I should shutup ;)
-
@fabsh Yeah, it's the New Zealand thing!
-
@evan I don't know what you're talking about. Also, STOP TYPING IN ALL CAPS.
-
@frankenspock I THINK I HAVE THE ALLCAPS VIRUS CAN U HELP ME
-
@jgehlbach I want 10M Laconica sites. That's not going to happen with Yaws, Seaside or Lift. Cheap hosting supports PHP/MySQL. Low end FTW!
Andy C likes this. -
@evan I'd say beyond getting an Amazon EC2 AMI together - try getting Laconica easily installed on a free PHP host like http://net23.net/

@evan: Does laconi.ca use Kannel for sms? http://is.gd/jRzY
bleeper likes this. -
@evan candid pragmatism, i like it :) thanks for indulging my curiosity
-
@dragonrant No, but I love Kannel. When we get "real" SMS, it'll be what we use.
-
@evan That never gets old.
-
@evan Any reason you're not using it now? Does it require service or something to receive sms? Surely it can't be as simple as installing it
-
bleeper likes this.
-
@evan Could you work with Twe2 to get #SMS support to #identi.ca? Would be awesome! http://cli.gs/ZghvTD !identica
emporio likes this. -
@lmorchard Agreed; we need a simple Web-based install. Also: Debian package, RPM, and images for various cloud services.
-
@jontheniceguy Yes, I'll have Zach talk to them.
-
@evan Push everything but the core out of the core and you will get your debian package soon ;)
-
@dragonrant Setting up a short code for SMS costs tens of thousands of dollars. Running it costs $10K's/month. Free SMS-over-email works.
-
@evan It's a nice racket they've got going on
-
@adrianlang It's just a matter of taking the time to do it. I've got to start the deb package.
-
@frankenspock No, it doesn't.
-
@evan: know of any free SMS -> email gateways for people who don't use smartphones?
-
@evan re: seo zombies: http://www.fanboy.com/2009/01/social-media-experts-rant.html
-
@evan Is there a way to retrieve #identi.ca user avatar URLs from the ATOM feed?
-
@astro AFAICT, no.
-
@maco No, I don't. We support all major wireless providers in North America with http://identi.ca/settings/sms though, many in Europe.
-
@maco Let me rephrase: most NA wireless providers have their own email gateways; we just use those.
-
@evan: oh ok. vzw doesn't seem to do email from "normal" cell phones
-
@evan: er, well, wait. there's an email option on normal cell phones, but it just kicks you into a web browser instead of using SMS
-
@maco vzw lets you address any SMS to an e-mail addy, you're just limited to 160 chars. Longer than that yot havd to pay extra for.
-
@tonyyarusso: when i go to Messages -> Email, it takes me to the Get It Now web browser thingy that charges you insanely
-
It's really annoying that is.gd trashes URL fragments.
-
@mjohnson Did I miss something? What's not working? You said you get nothing, just a bit curious :)
-
@maco don't use that. Jtst write a normal text message and put an e-mail in the to field instead of a number.
-
@maco It depends on the actual handset. With some, you just put the email address into the "To" slot. In others, use a prefix in the text.
-
@dantheman http://rant.feebleforce.com/ was not working for me. But appears fine now. No problem.
-
@mjohnson Oh right that's weird, to be honest it hasn't been used in a while. I keep forgetting about it (blush)
-
@mjohnson I am working on something Feeble Force related I reckon you'll all like though, something of a retrospective, no spoilers ;)
-
@dantheman Excellent!
-
@mjohnson I probably needs updating now and from what Fab says Laconica isn't easy to maintain, I'll have to look at it sometime
-
