@evan the smid.gen.nz server is regularly pulling in language file updates - I should see at least a lot of strings translated in reg. form

@marjoleink I just set my browser language to fr-fr, logged out of identica, and saw prompts in French.

@evan - hmmm - I'm seeing a *few* strings translated - only ones I did days ago. Something's wonky with the update process then, it seems.

@evan I'm validator but i'm mostly postponing validating until I can review consistency - it's harder to update what's validated

@evan aha - that explains the lack of strings then (phew!) I'm still postponing validating unless I'm forced to to make a string stick

@marjoleink and I'm saying it's unnecessary. for a newbie it might matter, but newbies don't blog at new sites from foreign web cafes.

@bjornw you can not make a string "stick" if it's the same as English or even a substring or longer word - but I can do that via validation

@bjornw I even ran into that trying to translate 'Bio' with 'Biografie' - it has to be validated to make it stick
