      @teddks that's not what the post says, it says the partner at this time only supports MP3, it's not inherent in the store

      @micahg Since there is no other option right now, MP3 _is_ "inherent" in the !Ubuntu One Music Store. Vaporware is irrelevant.

      @teddks I didn't expect any different from Canonical though. Not very surprising.

      @teddks that's FUD and you know it

      @micahg No, it is a statement of fact. Until the Ubuntu One Music Store stops supporting MP3, it will continue opposing user freedom.

      @teddks That's FUD...supporting something is not diametrically opposed to user freedom...it's just what's available at the moment

      @micahg: What is available at the moment in the !Ubuntu One Music Store opposes user freedom. Supporting it opposes user freedom.

      @teddks how does having a content partner with a free codec with content that people might enjoy opposing freedom? think Apple

    • Ted Smith Ted Smith micahg

      @micahg Yes, #Canonical is becoming much like #Apple in their opposition of user freedom, but I do not see how that is relevant to this.

      @teddks Just the opposite...iTunes locks you in to Apple's format...the Ubuntu Music Store uses MP3 which is Universally supported

      @teddks As an Apple hater hearing people comparing Canonical to Apple is a bit laughable

      @patdavila True. Apple understands that selling music is a loss leader to sell hardware. Canonical apparently doesn't... ;)

      @patdavila I wont compare canonical to apple. but canonical is making ubuntu look more and more like OSX when it needs a unique identity

      @micahg: MP3 is not a free format. It is patented. The fact it is widespread is a sad, but irrelevant fact.

      @teddks it's free to use
