is there an easy package manager for !ubuntu to install bleeding edge stuff into /opt (eg like fink or macports) ?
-
@helfire: there's probably something like GNU stow although that stores to /usr/local by default...
-
@helfire ~ubuntu-bleedingedge on launchpad. Doesn't install to /opt. Why do you want /opt? It is not normal to use /opt on !debian/!ubuntu

@odemia why would it be not normal? I just want it in a seperate location so my "stable" destkop doesnt get messed up by bleading edge libs
