I think we need a FLOSS federated Gowalla/Foursquare alternative, nice side-effect could be: it generates CC-licensed POIs...

+1! ♻ @rkallensee I think we need a FLOSS federated Gowalla/Foursquare alternative
-
@fabsh Didn’t identica and twiter have geolocation?
-
@fabsh @rkallensee I think FLOSS people are more privacy concearned to be publishing where they are all the time, dont u think?
-
@gabrielsaldana That's right, privacy features are a must-have.
-
@rkallensee maybe @buddycloud is a nice alternative to gowalla. it uses !XMPP. maybe they would try it... client is opensource now
-
@gbraad XMPP really seems to be a good way to do that. I'll look for Buddycloud, sounds interesting...
-
@quaid http://xkcd.com/456/ a cautionary at which you failed (in a good sense, http://bit.ly/b8LWDF) (via @0topcat0 on twitter) ;-)
-
@frakturfreak Yes. But for example Gowalla is more than mere geolocation...
-
@gabrielsaldana @rkallensee I am a F/OSS person and I love Gowalla. That's a totally false generalisation.
-
@fabsh ok, I don’t uſe ſuch ſtuff :-).
-
@frakturfreak Using Fraktur with English really does look peculiar... :)
-
@fabsh But you can uſe the ſ for writting Engliſh: http://is.gd/afbrx
-
@frakturfreak Yeah, the phoneme exists. It's just it was never in the language originally so it looks... *different*. :)
-
@fabsh It’s a grapheme in this caſe.
-
@frakturfreak Yeah, well... The grapheme doesn't exist in English traditionally, though. The sound does, not the character. :)
-
@fabsh I doesn’t exiſt today, although it was mainly uſed that time ;-). And was there before the s: http://is.gd/afeZS
-
@frakturfreak But not in English usage. Blackletter isn't Fraktur after all, right?
-
@fabsh In deed, there alſo is Rotunda, Textura and Schwabacher not to mention penmanſcript like Kurrent und Sütterlin.
-
@frakturfreak But they're all pretty specific to German AFAIK.
-
@fabsh Blackletter was alſo uſed in Engliſh printing, juſt take a look at the King James Bible in original printing.
-
@frakturfreak Yes, my point. Blackletter doesn't have that character!
-
@fabsh Which character, and you think of this as a graphical thing oder ſomething pſyochological?
-
@frakturfreak Aren't we talking about the "lange s"?
