Nothing makes me angrier than moldy bread. OK, some things do, but it really is up there in the pantheon.

@frankenspock right up there with soggy cereal... it's a communist plot! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7792143269357999563#

@stav Hmm, not in my experience. Sourdough tends to last longer, in fact, because of the acidity in the bread.

@stav The one I keep having problems with is soft whole wheat from Trader Joe's. Gone bad within five days the last two times I bought some.

@frankenspock We don't have this problem when we go to the breadstore. I think a trip is in order. Down with moldy bread!

@frankenspock avoid touching the bread with your fingers when taking it out of the bag. Use tongs. Microbes from your fingers can cause mold

@frankenspock Trader Joe's breads are super high in moisture for some reason. They always go bad in our house before we can finish.

@frankenspock but I ignored the advice about collecting urine in milk jugs, and wearing Kleenex boxes for slippers.

@frankenspock I figured it had to do with the starter yeast maybe. Anyway, I also hate it when I see little spots of mold on the bread.

@rkj Naw, then you gotta thaw it out, big problems, it gets dried out, yuck. I would expect fresh bread to last 4-5 days.

@mcnee Trying to do more of that, good protein source and whatnot. The canned stuff always has so much sodium, though, and I'm lazy...

@greggish How do you propose to sear the beef in such an implement?

      Wednesday, 17-Mar-10 04:21:19 UTC

@joshix Not interested in being a seer. But I can foretell that the only implement you'll need for crockpot beef stew is a spoon. Badumpbump
