Getting rid of damn #dash as /bin/sh symlink in !Ubuntu, using !bash instead. Solves many problems, e.g. /tmp mounted with 1Mb size.

@sunny256: the real problem is people using bash constructs in sh scripts #dash

@swfiua Yep, I agree. It would be better to fix it and send patches, but !bash has been the de facto shell on GNU/POSIX systems...

@swfiua ...for almost 20 years, so I think it's better to use !bash on production servers. (Oh, how I hate the 140 char limit...) :)

...I'm not against a short length limit, it's good to be brief and concise, but IMHO 140 is too short, it can be a real hassle to trim it.

@sunny256 Seen my idea for a solution to !140? Some good ideas in the comments too (maybe even better :)) http://ur1.ca/tuw3

@sunny256: ummm, say what? dash v. bash should have no impact on the size of paritions, including /tmp.

@forteller A great idea! Could really work, something along the lines of twitlonger.com . BTW, cool you're on !Posterous. I love that place.

@smb Something about !dash and the /etc/init.d/mountoverflowtmp init script makes Ubuntu 9.04 mount /tmp/ as "overflow" and 1Mb size.
