     @duck1123 denyhosts runs as a daemon right off the bat. However, there's also some self-explanatory config options at /etc/denyhosts.conf

     @swegner @duck1123 have a look at #fail2ban, it uses iptables rather than hosts.deny and supports more than ssh !ubuntu !linux #denyhosts

     @swegner yeah I use #denyhosts on all our servers. Just make sure to add your ip to /etc/hosts.allow to be safe

     @swegner also safe yourself the headache and add 127.0.0.1 to hosts.allow as well (don't know how that got denied)
