Keyhole surgery scheduled for 9am Friday. Will be in for 4-5 days. Right lung full of 'crap'. Going to miss the Manchester derby :-(
-
@davidmarsden Sure hope the surgery clears the problem up. I'll live blog the Council House fixture - just for you. Funny place for crap tho
-
@davidmarsden Hope that fixes your problems !
-
@andyc not sure if I'll have access to interwebz, either. 'Crap' was the surgeon's word. Kind of crapping myself, now, though.
-
@reality thanks, I hope so, too. How was the funeral?
-
@davidmarsden Sorry - I'll be at a Golden Wedding so can't provide any updates anyway. I think 'crap' is a medical term meaning 'misc fluid'
-
@davidmarsden ...although that might explain your halitosis problem :-)
-
@davidmarsden Difficult, but also a good thing in a way... All the religious stuff was a bit uncomfortable...
-
@andyc the Doc said it was like mature cheese.
-
@davidmarsden Is keyhole surgery done with a laser ? How do they displace the 'mature cheese' ? Do they melt it ? Seriously - how ?
-
@andyc Keyhole surgery is done by a locksmith. Stands to reason.
-
@andyc I think it's fibre-optics. As to the rest I've no idea. Far too squeamish to ask. Just hope they have some pretty female nurses.
-
@davidmarsden Local or general or nothing ?
-
@dwd For all I know, my surgeon could be a locksmith. Reminded me of one of Paul Whitehouse's cockerney wide-boy characters :-/
-
@andyc I'm hoping for a general. I have to be there at 7am to meet the gorgeous female nurses and the anaesthetist, anyway.
-
@davidmarsden Could he be Tommy Steel in disguise? Liable to click his heals and start a routine at a moment's notice?
-
@andyc I did think about hypnosis for about two seconds before I remembered that I'm not *that* suggestible, plus I hate pain and blood.
-
@dwd Is Tommy Steel still alive? Now I'm worried.
-
@davidmarsden Yes, according to 'pædia he's 73, and actually Tommy Steele.
-
@reality Funerals are never fun but they do seem to have a cleansing, purging, closure sort of effect on me.
-
@andyc I agree, it's also nice to see that many people care.
-
@reality Hmm - not so sure about that. I despise people who rock up to the funeral who weren't close or supportive in real-life.
-
@reality ...but yeah, I take your point. Most people are decent, well intentioned folk.
-
@andyc wait until your own ;)
-
@andyc Yes I see what you mean, true for peoples reaction to death as well, acting all dramatic about someone they weren't even close to...
-
@reality Yeah - I can pinpoint the exact day that sea change in the British mentality happened 31/8/97.
-
@reality Oddly, I never had cause to attend a funeral until I was 30. My Mum didn't take me to her own Father's funeral (her choice).
-
@tjgillies Oh I'll be around for a bit yet. My liver may be screwed but at least I haven't got mature cheese coating my lungs :-)
-
@andyc I didn't know that date without looking it up, but agreed on the point.
-
@reality You were quite young at the time...
-
@andyc Yeah my dad didn't take me to his mothers funeral either, I wasn't very old though...
-
@andyc I wonder if they'll let me take it home in a jar to put on the mantelpiece so I can scare people with it?
-
@davidmarsden Maybe you could cultivate it and start your own variety of cheese?
-
@reality I don't think it's really cheese. Although I do like cheese. Or I did. I was just about to have a cheese sandwich, too.
