@hz Most of the Logitech quickcams are supported plug and play but not the E2500, beware! I installed a patched driver from source...

@hz ...installed a kernel module with the patched source and it works in Skype only if you launch it as root now. Still hacking

@dantheman yeah, I read it should be supported. Anywho, the MS cam is cheaper, and not gonna be used for video chat. =)

@hz That's cool, a lot of people told me their MS hardware works well with Linux but I have an aversion to anything with MS written on it :D

@dantheman I find it ironic to use MS HW with Linux.. same with the remotes for my HTPC's.. MS products. LOL

@dantheman what do you use to remove those Genuine Windows stickers? Well the residual gum is the real issue. Is there a known way?

@dantheman well, they are using common chipsets, stable products.. added bonus easy to support in other OS's. ;-)

@dantheman: MS is not the true maker of the cams. They are branded as MS products. MS might choose the look, but the internals are generic.

@silner I just used elbow grease myself but some kind of solvent might help, some people have told me various tricks but I forget sorry
