Intel's Imad Sousou keynote starting now. #lfcollab

Seems a bit weird to me both #Nokia & #Intel are *separately* talking of MeeGo. Makes me wonder if they are really integrated. #lfcollab

At #lfcollab #Sousou claims #MeeGo is "fully open source software". This is completely wrong. Has he even looked at: http://ur1.ca/v4wj ?
-
@bkuhn there are two releases; an Open Codedrop and the Nokia Codedrop
-
@bkuhn is MeeGo switching to !linuxlibre ?
-
@bkuhn MeeGo switching to !linuxlibre would just make sense. friends don't let friends run non-Free Software !fs
-
@bkuhn thanks. open source has always promoted a “more flexible” stance, but this is indeed pushing it to ridiculous extents
-
@bkuhn if he manages to get away with it in a Linux Foundation conference, the meaning of open source is hopelessly lost
-
#Sousou & #Jaaksi admits answering to my q: ∃ *no* way to run the FLOSS components on #MeeGo on device w/out proprietary software #lfcollab

@bkuhn That's a disappointment to hear. How deeply nested are those proprietary chains, did they say?
-
@bkuhn (A disappointment, but not a surprise)
-
@bkuhn It's unclear to me the distinction between meego & ofono in these releases. Was also claim ofono & layers below would be 100% free
-
@bkuhn If ofono layers & below were 100% free, maybe possible to make calls using freesw w/o using UI stack.. but am skepitcal of that also
-
@cwebber, to #MeeGo 's credit (or really, Maemo), the proprietary components are documented on their wiki. But the list is long: ur1.ca/v4wj
-
@bkuhn Yes, v. familiar w/ that page, but maemo 6 / meego such a rewrite I hoped it would be better freesw-wise this time
-
@bkuhn they need to re-examine the new codedrop as most of those components do not exist in the current dev-release (merely a base system)
