   I am having trouble reinstalling !ubuntu 8.10 CD Drives are failing to boot anything and USB stops loading before desktop.

     @ragnarokangel no I will get the wire and load up the net install boot disc into unetbootin

     @shadedspriter It sounds like the kernel/ modules are failing during the load. Try to load linux without video drivers.

     @shadedspriter I managed to get my first install of xubuntu onto a laptop with a busted CD drive and a BIOS that wouldn't boot via usb. Fun.

     @dcorking I haven't used LILO in a long time... If I can't figure out what to do with #grub I may give it a whirl again.
