@jabberdotorg @kev I understand separation of content & styling from learning xhtml/css , but what is "version control"?

God I love Doritos

@reality @laurelrusswurm Having used both at reasonable length, I'd suggest looking at Docbook before throwing yourself into LaTeX.
-
@laurelrusswurm It's easy to write, easy to keep in version control, and keeps the styling separate from the content.
-
@laurelrusswurm Plus having co-authored a book using it, I had fewer annoyances than with LaTeX (PhD thesis) or word processors in the past.

@laurelrusswurm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Version_control true gift ... keeping the history of your work.
-
@mcepl Thanks. My "version control" has always been manually renaming "save as" but can see advantage in having it do that automatically
-
@laurelrusswurm Yes, that's exactly the point ... read http://hginit.com/ and enlightened. :)

@laurelrusswurm Software that keeps all the changes made to your document so you can see how it changes over time, get to old versions etc
