Test via Nokia 770. This will make me happy...

@kenzoid IM or Web?
-
@evan XULRunner++ *grin*
-
@evan IM ... Google chat client. Worked like a charm.
-
@evan Laura (@pistachio in twitter) has some valid questions about the CC licence you've chosen for content in indenti.ca
-
@evan I'm mixing desktop web and N770 right now, so it may look odd on backend.
-
@vruz it's a good thing she's sticking with Twitter, then, where no commercial companies re-use her posts! Oh, wait...
-
@evan whats your fave identica "verb" ? is there an official one yet?
-
@jonflow I've heard "dent", "deet", "tic" and "id". I tried to give my unofficial imprimatur to "dent", but it was totally ignored.
-
@evan i like dent
-
@evan I'm a big dent fan. :)
-
I'm flattered that @evan is following me on identi.ca.
-
@evan: that's because "tic" is better :)
-
@evan I think she's okay with reuse, she's not okay with explicit resale though. (as per this particular CC variant you've chosen)
-
@evan Just call them "posts". Our terminology should be as interoperable as our OMG implementations.
-
@evan Or "notices", which is right there in the URL.
-
@evan How about at a bookmarklet for ur1.ca?
-
@evan I think the concerns are valid, there's many other CC licences, yet you've chosen this one in particular
-
@mattack I've got my mouse hovering over "unsubscribe", so don't make me mad
-
@evan I like "dent" and "tic". Unrelated; any idea if FF will pick up identi.ca as "official"?
-
@evan haha!
-
@evan I realize federation makes it more complicated, but it would be way cool...
-
@vruz yes, here's why: http://laconi.ca/PITS/00055
-
@evan I am kind of partial to "dent" myself, it's a strong choice by base-definition alone..so hope that goes your (our) way hah
-
@vruz Twitter data is treated almost exactly like CC-by data, except that Twitter gets credit -- not you.
-
@evan Isn't managing all these CC flavours the same sort of rathole as DRM?
-
@sneakums yeah, it's going to suck.
-
@evan that pretty much clarifies it, thank you Evan
-
@evan the CC licensing is pretty involved. I didn't know this. Thank you for the explanation.
-
@vruz I think it boils down to, "Everyone can use your notices like Control Yourself, Inc. does." Which seems fair to me.
-
@evan this is interesting what you say about Twitter data
-
@evan a problem with CC 3 is that you give express permission to adapt deets, it's ok for cultural works, but less so for public statements
-
@evan not sure what are Laura's concerns, but I would personally be more concerned about other people twisting words 'adapting' content
-
@evan that's cool if that's what you understand, but that's not exactly what the legal letter says (complicated to discuss here)
-
@vruz "You must... provide... a credit identifying the use of the Work in the Adaptation". You have to say if you make changes.
-
@vruz also "You may not implicitly or explicitly assert or imply any connection with, sponsorship or endorsement by the Original Author"
-
@evan of course run their own servers, just thinking out loud in hope that identi.ca prospers as well
-
