I wrote my blog post response to #Bilski; although it's primarily a TODO list for software patent abolitionists going forward: ur1.ca/0gahg

@fontana I've never see them make a claim like you're suggesting. They support companies that use open source software.
-
@fontana,Doug Levin (former CEO) used to say that #Black_Duck was part of "FOSS community". Don't know if they still use that false rhetoric
-
@bkuhn I'm looking on the Black Duck site for a claim that they're "members of the FLOSS community". Citation?
-
@fontana, Just thought: it'd be interesting to ask #Black_Duck if they consider themselves part of FLOSS (or perhaps Open Source) community.
-
@fontana, I was hoping you would ask it. #Black_Duck speakers tend to avoid calling on me at conferences when I ask questions. :)

@bkuhn, thanks for pointing out that Apache-2.0 is a better permissive license to use. Previously, I used MIT for non-copyleft projects.

@bkuhn Thanks! Looking forward to the future writeup. If I'm ever in the area, I'll buy you a couple of coffees to get it done. ;)

@bkuhn IMO there is no reason why math should be patentable just because it is executed on a computer, so I'd completely abolish that.
-
@bkuhn Other SW patents I'd say reform is okay.
