Wow, Ubuntu One looks awesome.

@bobbyhaley -- sadly, it is not free software.
-
@mattl yeah, that is true. there is the free 2 gig plan though. just enough to explore and tinker with to see if it'd be worth the $10/month
-
@bobbyhaley -- it's still proprietary, $0 or otherwise. why is proprietary software carrying the Ubuntu name? !ubuntu
-
@mattl @bobbyhaley the protocol is open, AFAIK, and honestly, once it's on the cloud, it's out
-
@mattl @bobbyhaley even IF the software is libre, you still have to trust whoever hosts it
Doug from Sportazine.com likes this. -
@mattl @bobbyhaley and I trust Canonical explicitly. Unless they show themselves to be the new SCO
-
@edythemighty -- i trust myself quite well.
-
@mattl i should hope so. i wouldn't want to trust someone who doesn't trust himself
-
@mattl pretty sure confucious or someone around his time said that
-
@edythemighty It's not *just* trust related. Why use identica over twitter?
-
@edythemighty That is a damn good point. I think I'll stick to toying around with Linode.
-
@cwebber i use both. and it certainly *is* a trust issue
-
@cwebber does it matter that identica is open source if someone pulls the plug and the data is lost?
-
@mattl How about calling it #CanonicalOne ? Now there is another issue of trademark. That is different freedom than source code, right?
-
RD @mattl "why is proprietary software carrying the Ubuntu name?" !ubuntu

Kind of interested to see what will happen to @mattl's bug.. will it sit as "unresolved" and uncommented forever? http://➡.ws/
-
@mattl will there be an fsf windows 7 campaign? eg like badvista ?
-
@mattl Thanks so much for the comment on my blog, quite touching that I inspired you to set up donations! :D http://tr.im/lx23
