    @otter, Interesting idea. It's similar to an oft-proposed different idea: "rating" companies on the proprietary/software freedom divide.

      @bkuhn Even e**l companies can contribute: Lennart P. spoke of systemd inspiration by uber-E**l Apple in chat with Fab !lo from #GUADEC

      @alisonchaiken, Yeah, although it's tough when FLOSS always much play catch-up to proprietary stuff. I like Lennart's #SystemD project, BTW

      @bkuhn I've heard Apple contributes code to GCC. Apple and Oracle prolly have lots of FLOSS contributors. Apple supports CUPS & zfs too

      @alisonchaiken, #Apple *used* to contribute to #GCC. They've moved engineers from it over to #LLVM. Apple *owns* CUPS: different thing.

      @bkuhn CUPS is not !FaiF? How did it get in my #Fedora default install then? Is there no !FaiF alternative?

      @alisonchaiken,CUPS was !GPL'd. #Apple hated that. Apple bought all copyrights on it & hired dev. CUPS is not a community project. #OpenCore

      @bkuhn CUPS is not OpenCore.

      @ovidius,"#CUPS not #Open_Core" are you sure? They own all © & accept no outside contributions,right? Are my facts wrong? (asking seriously)

      @bkuhn Ok,then it is as OpenCore as QT was before.I'm thinking of OpenCore as an open core plus proprietary premium addons, which CUPS isn't

      @ovidius, IMO ∃ a spectrum: "healthy multi-contributor community" to "worst #Open_Core style imaginable". CUPS & Qt lean toward latter side.
