@dantheman have a great time at the BB show! sooo jealous
-
@kaz It was amazing thanks. Support acts were great too. You're a Billy Bragg fan then? :)
-
Home from the gig, exhausted but happy. Billy brought the house down with A New England, I reckon they could hear it in Manchester :P
-
Now I need a beer and a sandwich, in that order :)
-
@dantheman i'm a little jealous about the billy bragg gig. while i'm not a fan, i haven't been to a live gig for a LOOOOONG time
-
@phayz Find one and go! Doesn't even have to cost anything, could be a free gig, I'm sure there must be something. Good luck ;)
-
@dantheman good point! sometimes we let these things "slip by" as we get older. music can give you a great lift.
-
@kaz that's very interesting about licencing photos with other people in them .. great podcast!
-
Thanks all who took part in !linuxoutlaws Live. Fun show as always. I really hope @kaz won't kill me...
-

Software Freedom Law Show 0x14 is at http://ur1.ca/9k82 . @kaz & @bkuhn discuss GPL-related business models. Well, @bkuhn rants about them.

On @sflc podcast 0x14, I rant about #GPL business models, and the whole concept that GPL'd software needs "special" business models. !sflc

@bkuhn thank you for this great show.
-
@bkuhn figured you were aware since problems persisted from multiple vantage points. sorry for the noise, congrats on the pain of success :)
-
@dantheman, sure *you* get to WooHoo about it. I have got to figure out another bandwidth solution in the meantime. :) (kidding)
-
@dantheman thats awesome for !sflc, while a touch inconvient
-
@bkuhn congrats to being so popular your show downloads are a DOS, good job with the show

@bkuhn miro supports torrents in feeds, and so does development version of banshee iirc... perhaps add that as an enclosure option?
-
@bkuhn wget -c FTW, just got a complete ogg copy and ready for your rant! see you next month at #ATLLinuxFest.
-
@bkuhn eg http://ur1.ca/9klq ... anyway, could save quite a bit of bandwidth
-
@bkuhn Thought about talking to the Internet Archive?
-
@bkuhn lol, some problems are worth having ;) Who will you get hosting off then do you know?
-
@paulv, if you can make an introduction, let me know. OSU-OSL seems willing and I have an open ticket w/ them where we are discussing it.
-
@bkuhn Youre going to need to host the torrent file and seed it, but then just add it as a normal enclosure in the rss
-
@bkuhn you can have multiple enclosures, so apps like miro can use the torrent, other apps will just ignore it
-
@bkuhn miro prioritizes torrents over normal files in the enclosure preference sorting
-
@bkuhn great rant, your summary at 28:45 is wisdom for the age. see also http://www.opennms.com/about.html :)

@bkuhn Free software is like electricity. You don't demand a business model before using it in your work.
