@lmorchard welcome back!
-
@raster Oh hay, my Twhirl still works and pings me :)
-
@raster yes, and what are those reasons? It will be the platform of the future. The network is the computer.
-
@kevron I would imagine that things will have evolved past "browser", but yeah, a more browser-esque future OS seems most likely
-
@kevron hmmm, is iTunes a "browser"? Is my desktop email client a "browser"?
-
@kevron because moving terabytes across the network seems silly when it doesn't need to be moved across the network
-
@kevron so I'll use ssh within a browser to run backups on my own network? I dunno, I'm not buying "all work in the browser" quite yet
-
@raster itunes has a browser in it, a true browser is an platform agnostic viewer/interpreter with open access to anything on the internet
-
@raster that would be stupid, I never said local storage would go away.
-
@kevron we have stuff we don't want anywhere but our own network... I'm sure many corporations feel the same way
-
@tmray yup, Songbird is a browser, and so is iTunes ;)
-
@raster backups will be done by a web-enabled app, going to a secure storage location. Probably running Adobe Air in the future.
-
@jeramey please do not let this happen.... that is not progress
-
@raster it already exists, Mozy and company provide it, works very well for small, non-tech savy small businesses.
-
@raster looks like uncov agrees with you. http://teddziuba.com/2008/09/arrington-are-you-a-fuckin-idi.html
