first impressions, predictions, and thoughts on Google Wave: http://ping.fm/Oo47o #googlewave

@benadida you say #google_wave is open source; I can't find any other mention of that. Is it in the video or something?
-
@evan they mention it in the beginning of the video and at the end - it's also mentioned in one of the whitepapers
Evan Prodromou likes this. -
@evan http://ur1.ca/4x97 [http://ur1.ca/4x97] about 1/5th down the page "we PLAN TO make the code open source" (emphasis mine)
-
@evan Google says "the brunt" of it will be open source--whatever that means. http://ur1.ca/4x9m
-
@evan yes, the mention of open-source is in the video. The modifier "lion's share" was used, maybe some backend scalability stuff won't be.

@frankenspock Extreme Abe Lincoln is totally FOUR-SCORE!

@evan See here for info on Google Wave and whether it's FOSS http://www.waveprotocol.org/wave-community-principles

@evan Does #waveprotocol #patent #license mean that the #protocol (not #googlewave) is #OSS? http://www.waveprotocol.org/patent-license
-
@drsliu I don't think that "open source" is applicable to a protocol. I think they're using an "open source method" to develop the protocol.
