@armijn :) yeah, their brand is now even stronger than those :D
-
Kubuntu and Ubuntu sites have no mention of Linux on the FP... not even the old "... for human beings" phrase. While Xubuntu still does.
-
@ivancukic it's part of the branding plan imo. tailcoatride the "Linux" brand until you think your brand is self-sustainable, then move on.
-
@ivancukic two possible motives: "Linux is scary" (distancing from negs), "Linux is shared, promo'ing Linux is promo for competition".
-
@aseigo isn't that what they do with FOSS in general ;)
-
@aseigo I understand the reasons behind it... but it still is irritating. Esp. since it sounds like all of it is under Canonical's umbrella.
-
@ivancukic I find this kind of sad: http://blog.stackoverflow.com/2010/08/unix-and-ubuntu-why-both/ Ubuntu users distantiating themselves?
-
@vdboor Yes, and non-ubuntuers /distantiate/ them from /real/ Linux users, they complain ;)
-
@ivancukic actually I'd like to have Linux and KDE on our front page but our web designer disagrees and it's currently very hard to change
-
@jriddell maybe someone should point out to them that public distancing from allies usually results in isolation. can *buntu survive that?
-
@jriddell because in case nobody there has noticed, it's what is happening, with signs just about everywhere in the ecosystem.
-
@jriddell I hope you can persuade him. IMO, mentioning Linux and KDE is much more important than Windows and Office.
