@carlplage: I know, all those extra things that aren't part of the standard means you can't switch programs without loosing half your data..

@xoke Yes there are but very few have all the features that I use in FTM, that is why I still use it. Gramps is the closest but no cigar

@carlplage A little research suggests it may well work under CrossOver, but that'd cost money, just to run something you already paid for.

@psquid Not prepared to spend out more money for a chance of running, might look more at gramps and see what I would lose in conversion

@carlplage: the wife is the same way though. It's vendor lock-in and it sucks :(

@xoke it's the only program now that keeps me on windows and I'm not committed to any company to stay with them that much LOL

@carlplage If u have a modern enough CPU, u may be able to run !windows virtually in !linux. Then u can run *any* windows app in linux.

@penquincoder Really why not? CPU not fast enough? No 3D acceleration?

@ikaruga2099: CPU is fast enough, and 3D Accel is on in VirtualBox. Getting 'NiXAdapaterDesc::GetDeviceCaps() Failed' error when launching.

@ikaruga2099: Thanks for the advice, but I've updated Host and Guest drivers, windows updates for guest, and numerous guides. Same error
