Hi! I point out a new web site for verifying hardware compatibility with free distros http://www.h-node.com/ !libreplanet !fsf !fsfe !gnu
Saturday, 28-Aug-10 12:38:56 UTC from web- Danny Piccirillo, Jesús E. Franco Martínez and Pedro Gras and 2 others like this.
- Danny Piccirillo and Ruset Zeno repeated this.

@yuichi I'd support it if it didn't exclude my distro for an unknown reason. What does its name have to do with hardware? I use free sw.
-
@lmarcetic I suppose it means "hardware node". It should support all the distros considered free by FSF; which distro do you use?
-
@yuichi Still not getting you. I use Debian unstable. FSF deprecates non-free repos. Lousy reason, they're off by default&I don't use them.
-
@yuichi Hey, cool! I wanted to do something similar a few years ago. Nice :)
-
@hook I wish to underline that I'm not the developer! Yes, really cool an really useful, I hope it will be successful!
-
@yuichi Me too :)
-
@yuichi Does it pay attention to firmware for wifi cards? A-Platinum doesn't include BIOS as the only machine with free BIOS is unlisted

@dpic It doesn't refer explicitely to firmwares, it just ask if wifi works or not.I didn't see references to BIOS, you could suggest to dev!
-
@yuichi There are free wifi drivers that depend on nonfree firmware, so the ones without nonfree firmware should be recommended above others

@dpic But the site is only for free distros, so wifi cards are tested without non-free firmwares:if they doesn't work the fmw is non free
-
@yuichi Ah, i see. Very cool! =] I'll suggest they add BIOS to their considerations and list the Lemote Yeelong
