@methoddan Listening to Rancid shout "Oy!Oy!Oy!" I remembered your OggCamp ad and realized that punks shout this coz punk is Brit. !lo
-
@alisonchaiken Possibly. I like Rancid, Tim Armstrong is great. It can be argued punk is American in origin though. Stooges and Ramones :)
-
@methoddan: Punk seems to be a collaboration of American and British ideals. Doesn't really ma…
-
@gamerchick02 Yeah sure. It was a cultural exchange. Started in the US, some British bands took the sound and worked on it. Back and forth.
-
@methoddan: Dunno 'bout you, but I heard the Pistols before the Ramones. Lots of pioneers, but "Oy! Oy!" is mos def a Brit import.
-
@methoddan: Brits and Americans aren't that different. Well, 'cept for that little war for independence... ;)
-
@methoddan: Sorry, I'm feeling goofy tonight. Too much time in the sun? Maybe.
-
@gamerchick02 No problem, you're right that we're not so different as nations. Even though we like to think we are sometimes.
-
@methoddan: Who said that "the US and the UK are two nations separated by a common language"? I sort of remember the qu…
-
@gamerchick02 Yes I know the quote, not sure who said it either though.
-
@methoddan: Found it!! http://is.gd/eXDLZ Wilde or Shaw said it. :-D My Google-fu didn't fail me!!
-
@gamerchick02 Good find.
-
@methoddan: Thanks. I don't think there's that big of a language barrier between the US and th…
-
@methoddan 404 on ratholeradio.org front page, removed "last-minute" post?
-
@kabniel I know thanks. Some weird problem with wp-cache at the moment. Trying to get it fixed ASAP.
-
@methoddan I'll be curious to hear what u find since I use WP too...
-
@sndchaser Will let you know. Having major attacks on the lo server today which is taking up my time. Haven't looked yet.
-
@methoddan: That's not cool. When Fab leaves, that's when things go to pot. Hope things get working for you soon.
-
@gamerchick02 Thanks. I have a feeling the timing is deliberate. They know he's away and can't fix it. Just a theory though.
-
@methoddan: Good theory. I wonder who'd attack the !lo forums?
-
@methoddan Who do you suspect, Balmer or Jobs :D
-
@methoddan Sorry to hear about your server troubles. I sincerely hope you are wrong about the coincidental timing. That would be horrible.
-
@andyc Maybe i'm wrong but I think we've made enough enemies for it to be possible. Trying to find out.
-
@methoddan: Enemies? Who? Either way, I hope you get it sorted. I wish you luck; not much more I can do where I am.
-
@gamerchick02 That's ok, thanks for the good wishes.
-
@methoddan: You're welcome. I won't suggest anything to fix it, because I don't know how to fix it.
-
@methoddan Linux Outlaws has made 'enemies' ? WTF ! Although you both hold forthright views, that amazes me. It's all just harmless banter.
-
@methoddan are you getting DDoS'd or something?
-
@mo6020 Possibly, haven't confirmed what it is yet but ddos is possible. It's been going on 2 days it it is.
-
@methoddan Ouch.. I had some wierd stuff going on with my Linode yesterday, but it's ok now :/
-
@mo6020 I suspect it's probably just because it's fairly low-traffic, but the only odd thing I've had with my linode was when the (...)
-
@psquid My CPU was going into overdrive, it was odd but I wasn't in a position to investigate...
-
@mo6020 (...) internal clock mysteriously, and for no clear reason, decided it was now 1914. Using NTP seems to have prevented a repeat.
-
@richslxh I didn't have ssh
-
@richslxh I had just enough 3g reception to bounce the box :/
-
@mo6020: We are on Linode. Is it something to do with them you think? Seems a strange conicidence.
-
@methoddan There's nothing on their website about it, but I was wondering... What symptoms are you seeing on your box?
-
@richslxh Unfortunately I had SSH, but my connection kept dropping, so I just bounced via the Linode web interface...
-
@mo6020 It's an Apache problem. It keeps using more and more CPU until it maxes out and locks up the box. Dunno why yet though.
-
@methoddan: Probably some Fedora packaging error <ducks and runs> :D
-
@methoddan I wish I'd been able to see what was using my CPU usage when mine died :/
-
@methoddan I used to have that problem. Switched to lighttpd and that worked.
-
@alexharrington This server is on Ubuntu LTS. The CentOS machines are fine so far hehe ;) Don't think it's a distro thing.
-
@methoddan: Sure it's CPU not RAM causing CPU load? Had a very similar thing on BitFolk. They recommended changing to Debian kernel. OK sinc
-
@alexharrington Not sure right now to be honest. CPU maxes out , box locks. Couldn't have come at a worse time with the work I have on now.
