@alphakamp What if somebody confused NC with NO Constraints? :D !cc
-
@alphakamp Because it denies the freedom of commercial re-use. "You can use this, so long as it doesn't materially benefit you."
-
@mattl Yes, they go both ways. :D
-
@mu In what way? NC means that not everyone can use, remix and redistribute it.
-
Well @lucy you can. You just can't make any money off it. Which would limit it's usefulness... yes, I'm slowly coming around. :D
-
@mattl I think different licenses are appropriate for different times. Nothing against NC, but it's not free + so not as 'good'.
-
@lucy I suppose you could call it the "free, but just like free money - not free" license. :D
-
@mu It means it can't be used for 'commercial purposes', it's more wide ranging than not being able to sell it.
-
@fauno Cool :)
-
@lucy Ah, yes, the term "commercial" could apply to anything where... even for a charity event. I agree.
-
@mu Yes, that's right. This is NC - non commercial though
-
@mu Yes, that's part of the problem. It's too vague :) But it's a good way for people to get into CC if they're worried though.
-
So, @lucy what exactly are you looking at? If I may inquire. I may find some good music.
-
@mu I was looking at http://www.ripremix.com/, but you could also try http://ratholeradio.org/
-
RD @lucy: RIP: A Remix Manifesto a film on (C) in the 20th Century: http://is.gd/NfiT @kuks you might find this handy.
-
@mu Much appreciated
-
@kuks Even more interesting: http://www.opensourcecinema.org/ #CC #movies #open
-
@mu Yea, Very interesting. Innovative is the word.
-
@lucy @fauno @mu You can download RiP: A Remix Manifesto from http://ossguy.com/?p=351 in XviD/MP3 or #Theora/Vorbis. #ripremix
Manu Ullas likes this. -
@lucy @fauno @mu The encodings are fairly official; they're mirrored on http://ripremix.com/ My site doesn't restrict non-US users, though.
-
Thanks @ossguy. I'm nowhere near the US. And I'm too much of a student to be able to afford a donation. No credit card, besides!
-
@ossguy That's awesome, I'm in the UK and downloading now, so thanks :)
