Here's a Sylvia Plath book and a bottle of Ambien. I'm gonna look the other way and whatever happens, happens. (Family Guy rules).

John Drinkwater likes this. -
@expatpaul a number of blogs state the average person has read 6 of the 100 e.g. http://ur1.ca/6coz
-
@stav Only six? I find that very surprising. There are some very popular books in there - how can anyone only have read six?
-
@stav I don't think I read more than 5 books on this list and I read way more than the average 23 years old
-
@csarven Zat you in the MJ tee?
-
@stav Yes! I have another MJ tshirt but it is small on me. I keep it around for historical/antique value :)
-
@lprodromo On this list I have only read 8 books, but I've seen the other 92 movies hahaha
-
@stav Totally. #fiction puts me to sleep. #nonfiction stimulates me.
-
@stav I tend toward non-fiction as well. for example I haven't read God of Small things but have soaked up all of A.Roy's political writings
-
@exador23 Maybe @seeds can do a poll for us on his blog http://www.catharcyst.com/ "What do you prefer to read: fiction or nonfiction?"
-
@stav You know it is really annoying when you sit yourself down to listen to the audio book and fall asleep. No progress made at all.
-
@stav I usually take my #ipod and go for a walk. The world thinks I am !listening to music but really it is more likely #Charles_Dickens

@tinydoctor Fiction and non-fiction please. I cannot live without scifi
-
@tinydoctor that should be "make mine fiction and non-fiction…"
-
@t3knomanser I read a great deal of SF up until about 1985 or so, sporadically since--when my wife orders me to read a particular SF title.
-
@t3knomanser Look, I hang out with SF writers, most seem enmeshed in nostalgia for futures they like way better that the one that's coming.
-
@tinydoctor some non-fiction (& much politics) is similarly a nostalgia for a past way better than it actually was :)
-
I've read 1 4 6 7 8 11 15 16 17 20 21 25 26 29 30 34 35 36 39 42 44 45 46 47 52 53 54 60 63 70 78 84 87 90 91 92 on BBC list, despite bias.
-
@exador23 True that. Was Xenophon nolstalgic in the Ten Thousand? Probably. Was Thucydides nolstalgic for the Peloponnesian War? No.
-
@exador23 Suetonius scrapped up every bit of gossip & made the Caesars look worse or more sensational than they probably were...
-
@tinydoctor I think where fiction can come in handy is to remind us the words come through the gloss of a character. Easier to forget w/nonf

@exador23 Lucan was positively libelous in his Pharsalia; Petronius wrote of the his contempory society with a stylus dipped in acid.
-
@exador23 Oops, Petronius' Satyricon WAS fiction. It just seems like history to me.
-
@csarven take a look at linux Mag http://www.linux-mag.com/id/7255
-
@exador23 Josephus' character & his devious unreliable eyewitness reporting permeates his Histories, which make them altogether juicer.
-
@exador23 Good character is more romantic than what chrysler went through
-
@x11r5 good observation señor bot
-
I think @x11r5's dents have a level of obtuseness and whatsthewordagain, well, flabbergastability that is unmatched. I salute you, sir!

@mu I occasionally fire a missive - usually to promote identica. Don't want to delete because, who knows, it may be useful in the future.
-
@mu http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/topics/export_full_tweet_archive suggestions in the last post.
-
@exador23 I agree. I started out before !identica existed or was public. So, I spent almost a year on twitter. Lot of stuff there.
-
@exador23 Thanks. I tried both the services that were mentioned. TweetDumpr has downtime issues. The first one doesn't export all of it.
-
@csarven; I just got a Samsung N110 and I love it; Ubuntu worked out-of-box. Great keyboard. http://ur1.ca/6d59
-
@mu good to know. If you find a way, let us know. I would like to archive my detritus there too.
-
@exador23 If you think about it, Stephen King could use this as a title for his next short story - The Longer Walk: sequel to The Long Walk.
-
@mu nearly every journal I've ever kept has been lost, stolen, burned in fiery crashes, or eaten by fail whales.
-
@exador23 I used to think that things are safe when kept within personal memory, but I forget stuff. So, that's unreliable too.
Shashi Gowda likes this. -
@mu the memories are safe, but the keys get lost - or the filing system is a mess. journals/keepsakes/photos are spare keys :)
-
@exador23 Have you seen Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind? The Lacona and Laconica sound the same, but are not.
-
@mu yes. I've worked on a number of albums & soundtracks with Jon Brion who did the music for it too.
-
@exador23 Ah, it's beautiful. The soundtrack. Makes me want to hold onto whatever I've got even more.
-
@mu probably my fave Jon Brion song is Here We Go from Punch Drunk Love. it was a fun session too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8ZNCQTFJvs

-
@gam3 Thank you for that info!
-
@jephrei Most certainly. We're tweaking the conversation page still. For now, make sure to reply using the Web interface - safe.
-
@csarven i always do. don't usually use anything but web interface and click the "reply to this notice" button.
-
@x11r5 I must find a way to stop myself from over squeegeeing myself all over the Internet. I'm all over my dents. But I'm not over myself.

@mu From not getting to know whose house you're in ..
