@diablod3 the first sentence totally missed the point actually. #RMS didn't say depending on #Mono is bad because of #dotGNU.

@hassanibraheem #RMS may have not said anything at all then, and this is just a badly worded PR statement promoting #dotGNU because its GNU

@diablod3 No, the point of mentioning dotGNU was to show that GNU believes the existence of a libre C# implementation is important...

@hassanibraheem Except Mono is 99% GPL, LGPL, and MIT licensed, thus already FOSS; this does not fix .NET's BCL is API hell.

@diablod3 I was not talking about the BCL argument. It's just that RMS didn't say "don't depend on Mono, dotGNU is better".

@hassanibraheem What I'm saying is, if RMS thinks there should be a GNU (not just FLOSS) impl of C#/.NET, then he thinks its worth using.

@diablod3 I think it's like #Wine. It's good to have, but it's not good to depend on and target for main development.

@hassanibraheem But otoh if people used Java, programs would need (virtually) no porting as it already runs everywhere; plus we have GNU GCJ
