@friendika So there is parity for ! and # and @ usage? Yet @bavatar says identi.ca posts with ! # or @ get mis-mapped to Twitter?

Got some code in place in !Statusnet 0.9.x dev to finally fix @-replies and !-mentions with mixed case or underscores. Whee!

@brionv Talking of code changes, did you change anything repeat-related? The problem I was having seems to have gone away :D

@psquid I'm guessing there was bad data in memcache, which has since expired. (No obvious problem in the code or DB when I checked)

@brionv: why does Statusnet use ! not #? Patent issue? Political decision? Different meaning? Is an issue when posting to multiple networks.

@friendika @newsocweb and the group tags ! are converted when dilivered to twitter and count as normal tag # for the sidebar in your profile

@elliek twitter has no groups, so the ! tag is converted to a # automatically when crossposting from StatusNet (like identica) to twitter

@elliek statusnet is smart with the @'s when sending to twitter too, though it might happen that the wrong person gets the notice

@elliek ! is _similar_ to a mailing list where # is a tag to your posting, stuff for groups are send to everybody in the group

@friendika Pity - Identica's !groups are my favorite feature. Makes for good topic-based responses, conversations. !friendika

@friendika: OK, I get it. Makes sense. But proliferation of symbols leads to confusion, especially when using multiple networks together.

@friendika: I'd like a more natural way to perform those linking tasks than memorizing symbols.
