Why does everyone keep posting #moonfruit ? I noticed it a few days ago but I guess I missed something

      @dantheman Grassroots propaganda for http://www.moonfruit.com/ I guess?

@dantheman It's a viral marketing campaign from a website building company

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:23:28 UTC
    • Jan Wildeboer Jan Wildeboer

@dantheman See wikipedia: In June 2009 Moonfruit began a promotional campaign using the viral power of twitter's trending topics

@jwildeboer Seems like it. Thanks for the information. I just wondered why I was seeing the tag all over the place. Doh!

@jwildeboer @dazfuller Looks like a knock off of Dreamweaver to me, which I haven't used since 2004(ish) meh :)

    • Dan Lynch Dan Lynch Jackie Plage

@jackieplage Just saw that thanks. I can now see why the tag is popping up everywhere. Clever campaign but could get annoying quickly

@dantheman Yeah, good job it's only for 7 days. And if lots of companies start doing this...ah well that's crappy twitter for you. :)

@dantheman @jackieplage: You might argue that marketing is apples only real skill. Well I just did anyway :)

@silner It's Steve Jobs only real skill at least ;)

@jackieplage @dantheman Meh. Who wants a MacBook? They can stick their non-replaceable battery where the sun don't shine!

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:45:04 UTC
    • silner silner Fabian Scherschel , Jackie Plage

@fabsh @jackieplage @dantheman: The batterys non-replaceable? thats outrageous. Rip off Rip off!

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:46:16 UTC
    • Jackie Plage Jackie Plage Fabian Scherschel

@fabsh Since when was it non-replaceable? :O And I wouldn't pay for one, but I'd take it for free :D

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:48:18 UTC
    • Dan Lynch Dan Lynch silner

@silner No idea, I've never used one. You probably have to take it back to the Apple store and pay a lot of money to get it fixed

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:48:51 UTC
    • Fabian Scherschel Fabian Scherschel Jackie Plage

@jackieplage All the new MacBooks have non user-replaceable batteries.

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:50:06 UTC
    • silner silner

@dantheman: it almost seems as if Apple products are actually designed to be DIY proof?

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:50:29 UTC
    • Jackie Plage Jackie Plage Fabian Scherschel

@fabsh Ah, yeah, knew about that. Thought you meant it couldn't be replaced at all. LOL

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:51:42 UTC
    • Simon L'nu Simon L'nu silner

@silner they didn't used to be so. that started w/ t/ imacs 1st gen

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:56:04 UTC
    • Fabian Scherschel Fabian Scherschel Jackie Plage

@jackieplage Well, as far as I am concerned it cannot be replaced if I can't do it.

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:56:50 UTC
    • Alistair McKinlay Alistair McKinlay Fabian Scherschel

@fabsh You could sell it :P would you ever say no to anything you can sell and get money for?

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:56:52 UTC
    • Simon L'nu Simon L'nu silner

@silner "desktop" boxen are still DIY, but i dunno now... i work with older stuff (pre-2000)

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:56:59 UTC
    • Jackie Plage Jackie Plage crap , Fabian Scherschel

@fabsh Oh yeah, I totally understand your position, and agree. Typical apple !crap

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 12:59:58 UTC
    • Dan Dart Dan Dart Fabian Scherschel

@fabsh It'll have been mono audio then. I also had it up really high.

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 13:01:32 UTC
    • Kelly Harding Kelly Harding Fabian Scherschel

@fabsh the batteries can be replaced if you strip the entire laptop down, but theres just no access to it from the outside.

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 13:12:54 UTC
    • Fabian Scherschel Fabian Scherschel Dan Dart

@dandart The podcast is always in mono. I really did not hear the problem you describe.

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 14:33:15 UTC
    • Fabian Scherschel Fabian Scherschel Kelly Harding

@bionicgeekgrrl Oh, great. That is crap as well. And as always with Apple I suspect they do it for the money, whatever they say.

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 14:34:49 UTC
    • Dan Dart Dan Dart Fabian Scherschel

@fabsh Ahh.. I'll have to double check.. I /do/ need a better sound card...

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 14:35:02 UTC
    • Kelly Harding Kelly Harding Fabian Scherschel

@fabsh the batteries are apparently a lot longer lasting however, so the need to replace the battery is apparently lessened by a great deal

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 14:41:47 UTC
    • Jan Wildeboer Jan Wildeboer Fabian Scherschel

@fabsh wrt apple and batteries - when was the last time you actually did buy a new battery for either laptop or phone? ;-)

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 14:45:46 UTC
    • Fabian Scherschel Fabian Scherschel Jan Wildeboer

@jwildeboer Phone: never, that's why I am OK with the iPhone. Laptop: for EVERY SINGLE laptop I have ever owned (four in total).

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 15:12:01 UTC
    • Fabian Scherschel Fabian Scherschel Kelly Harding

@bionicgeekgrrl I don't believe that. Whenever manufacturers talk about battery lifetime, they lie. Every single time.

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 15:12:49 UTC
    • Kelly Harding Kelly Harding Fabian Scherschel

@fabsh: i think their resoning is, that cos theres no access, the battery can be bigger, etc or something along those lines

      Sunday, 05-Jul-09 15:53:45 UTC
    • Fabian Scherschel Fabian Scherschel Kelly Harding

@bionicgeekgrrl That's what they say. I think their real reasoning is squeezing money out of people. Apple is really good at that.
