First impressions of KWin-GLES on nouevau. Fast resizing of complex windows and smooth effects http://blip.tv/file/4587587 !KDE

@mgraesslin Wow! This looks great, even on Nvidia. Which graphics card model is it? Is nouevau now more or less useful?

@hilefoks that's a 9600M. I cannot say much on general quality of nouevau, I'm using here EGL instead of GLX, that is 4.7 code

@mgraesslin I have a 6100. I use KDE trunk anyway, so I'll try it. Do you use the stable 7.9 version of mesa, or trunk?

@hilefoks I doubt that a 6xxx is properly supported by nouveau. I am using whatever Debian experimental provides (seems to be 7.9)

@mgraesslin I don't know if I would call that smooth resizing, take a look at all of that ugly blank space that shows up as the resize lags!

@astromme to be fair, he said "fast". ;) seriously, though: content redraws of the window are really not something the wm can do much about.

@astromme the "smooth resize" plugin is pretty interesting, though, as it scales the content instead of pushing app refreshes

@aseigo You're correct, the wm has little control over that. But I think it is important to expose that issue and not sweep it under the rug

@astromme just compare to what we have with the NVIDIA blob nowadays, than you see the difference.

@aseigo That plugin is interesting, I'll check it out. I still would rather have smooth content resizing but that is complicated to achieve
