!linux Is anyone aware of an open-source alternative to SAS?

@captivus the Special Air Service?
-
@rpcutts I guess Ill become expert at changing themes quite fast :)
-
@rpcutts desktop is easy enough, its all the window bars and icons and scroll bar thumbs that get me
-
@rpcutts unlike @marjoleink i switch from !ubuntu`s brown to the lush blue of clearlooks on all of my !linux desktops
-
@skwashd me too. Except I have #! so: openbox window manager with clearlooks and Gnome Brave icons and LXPanel.
-
@marjoleink I let theme managers take care of all that for me. I never fiddle around under the hood.
-
@captivus what do you mean with SAS?
-
@captivus the R-project maybe
-
@matjan I have R. It's great, but it's more of an open-source S-Plus than an OS-SAS. We're on the right track, though.
-
@captivus yes. all day long it seems to go off and on. that is one of the reasons whey i am looking for an alternative "client"
-
@captivus Ahh... ok. What about something like Pentaho?
-
@matjan Pentaho strays a little further from SAS. Pentaho = BI, SAS = statistical analysis
-
@captivus yeah the service has been bouncing a lot.
-
@josephkern yeah. lots and lots of documenting, if the company hasnt already had it in place
-
@captivus no there isn't an open-source SAS. see 'statistical packages' http://bit.ly/4jpqxj and http://bit.ly/pnfDB [wikipedia]
