I am tired of people constantly disrespecting !kubuntu developers by calling us 2nd class citizens. Stop with the bullshit already!!!

@slackusr well, if they wouldnt frament everything, and just done one distro, it would get all te support and attention and love
-
@nixternal I didn't mean it that way.
-
@nixternal What I meant was: For us the users, it seems the kubuntu developers and kde packages take a back seat to what's needed by gnome.
-
@slackusr heh. that should be `fragment` and `s/done/do/`
-
@nixternal The bluetooth bug that's been on kubuntu since intrepid is a good example of that.
-
@slackusr how does it seem to take a back seat? We have about 10 active developers busting their asses. You are more than welcome to help us
-
@slackusr that's because the bluetooth stack in Linux is utter shit. It sucks in GNOME as much as it does anywhere else. Bluetooth sucks too
-
@nixternal The ubuntu guys updated the bluez stack, which broke bluetooth on kde, but it works in gnome.
-
@slackusr Wouldn't that make it more difficult for KDE users to use GNOME apps, and vice-versa? Seems a little counter-productive.
-
@jacob Not a replacement repo, but a supplemental. That way, when the ubuntu guys break something for kde, you can supersede the change.
-
@slackusr Im not certain what that would accomplish
-
@slackusr ive never understood why the separate spin to begin with. whats so hard about a single release, like every other distro?
-
@slackusr Still seems counterproductive. Why bother fixing it in a KDE-specific repo when it could be fixed in the main?
-
@slackusr i dont think any window manager is the future. if anything, well see more come about, rather than merging into one
-
@skreech2 The could undo anything that gets changed for gnome and also breaks kde.
-
@slackusr one instance, and I still bash mario for doing that, but bluetooth in gnome sucks too. We do have separate repos, just not 4 base
-
@atoponce A single release would be great, if all of the DEs were given the same importance.
-
@slackusr Thats not exactly impossible in a single repo. More collaboration helps not less
-
@atoponce While KDE has been making progress, the others are still the same. So I don't see how they could merge outdated features with new.
-
@nixternal At least in gnome it works. In fact as a "solution" to the bug they tell you to use the gnome app.
-
@skreech2 Like I said before, I agree, but each DE has to be given equal importance for that to work.
-
@slackusr holy shit dude, this caused one hell of a advertisement shitstorm on twitter :p
-
@nixternal What?
-
@nixternal I just saw it. LOL
-
@nixternal Its not about the devs number .. Its about the usability, take a look at packagekit as default for !kubuntu its utter shit
-
@bigbrovar I have a bluetooth mouse, it can't find itself half the time, it sucks, bluetooth sucks everywhere
-
@bigbrovar oh ya, that was a stupid ass move that I gave a huge -1 too, but my vote didn't count I guess
-
@nixternal I've actually had quite the opposite experience. Bluetooth mouse was really easy to set up, and my A2DP headset was pair-n-play.
-
@nixternal I know u guys are doing a great job... Just wished !kubuntu could work just as well as ubuntu ... Anyway how is the KNR going?
-
@bigbrovar I use dual monitor with KDE
-
@bigbrovar KNE :) No remix, a full-fledge KDE/Kubuntu Netbook Edition. It is just an embryo now, but hope 2 release karmic preview
-
@nixternal how the tool for that in the system settings detects both much monitors just doesn't allow me have an extended monitor
-
@bigbrovar 9.10 will of course be 4.3, hoping to have a netbook edition preview. as for dual mon, I had to mess with xorg.conf :(
-
@bugabundo as i expected, 99% noise
